Mark Dunn
Assistant Coach
Mark Dunn heads into his 3rd season as assistant coach of the South Gibson County Hornets.
He is a graduate of Gibson County High School where he was a baseball standout.
Dunn played collegiate baseball for four years, his first two coming at Jackson State Community College for Coach Victor "Bubba" Cates. After two years, Dunn transferred to Lambuth University where he finished his playing career and also his academic career.
He was an assistant coach at USJ under Jimmy Carey from 1999-2002, where he was part of 3 state championship teams. Mark Dunn is going to bring a lot of baseball knowledge and experience to the young Hornet program.
"We are excited that Mark is back with us. He contributed so much last year. I think that his work and efforts have been visible this past season and the progress that our hitters have made was due mostly to him. The work that he has done with our outfielders is great too. I think that we will have one of the strongest outfields in the district from top to bottom. We are all excited and anticipating the work and progress that will be seen as we enter into the 2014-2015 season." Coach Cates remarked on the presence of Mark Dunn and the team.
Mark teaches Physical Education at Medina Elementary School.
He primarily works with the outfielders and hitters, but will be involved in the other aspects of the team as well.
Mark and his wife Kristie live in Medina and have two children, Griffin and Karson.
